boy you got a long way to go! took me a week or 4 days to learn how to mod it step by step, but at the end it was suppose to only take me 15mins to mod my xbox 360. What you would be modding is the DVD rom itself, you basically use a flash drive with all the files you need and a compatible SATA chipset controller to get the reading of the flash rom from the drive to grab the key, then go back in windows and use Iprep and mod ixtreme firmware, then flash it back to the dvd drive with the new one

A sata controller is on your computer motherboard. Best if you have a compatible Sata controller like the VIA chipsets. The SATA part is the data wire that connects from the motherboard of your computer to the 360 DVD rom. As you open up the xbox 360, you will see this connector and it is a small and short wire. All the NEWEST and past 2 year motherboards have this connector also, and a longer data SATA cable. If you have a Nforce chipset, be ready to run into trouble like I did. Use VIA!
