How to Copy Xbox 360 Games Using ImgBurn
Imgburn is a freeware tool that allows you to burn all sorts of CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs. It works for PD CDs, music CDs and even Xbox 360 games. Here’s how to burn your 360 games with it.
Before you can burn any Xbox 360 game, you first need to get the ISO and DVD files that will be used to burn the disc. These files are crucial and can either be ripped off your game CD or downloaded from the Internet. After you have the ISO and DVD files for the game you want to burn, you then need to install imgburn onto your system. This is pretty simple and the software can be downloaded from imgburn.com.
Once you have the software installed, you then need to open up the .dvd file for your game. In the file there will be a layer break number that you will need to copy. When you have copied the layer break number you can open up imgburn and find the ‘options’ panel at the top of the screen. In the options menu find the ‘layer break’ setting, this is where you will paste in the layer break number.
After you have pasted in the layer break number into the settings you can close the window and return to the main screen (the layer break is where the burner stops burning one layer and moves onto the next layer of a dual layer DVD). On the ain screen you then need to click the ‘burn from image’ button, which will then open a new screen and prompt you to open an ISO file. Open up the game file that you have and then proceed to change the ‘write speed’ of the program to 4x. This will give the highest success rate. After that, you just need to click on the big button on the bottom left of the screen to get it to burn.
Most computers will take around 40 minutes to burn the game. You will now have an Xbox game burnt onto a blank DVD. But now in order to play the game you need to make some minor adjustments to your PC and console. It won’t take much but is crucial.

If your disc doesn’t play, either your source image is/was faulty or your console is actively rejecting/blocking it.
Why would my image be faulty?
- You didn’t make it correctly in the first place – make another one from your original disc using the appropriate tools.
- You’re a pirate and a bad one at that!
Why would it be actively rejecting/blocking it?
- A ‘standard’ console will only play original ‘pressed’ DVD-ROM discs, not backups.
- A ‘modified’ console may have been ‘flagged’ for playing backups. Playing backups may no longer be possible.
- A ‘modified’ console may have a version of the modification installed that prevents the disc from playing – the modification does this on purpose.
- Your drive didn’t do a very good job of burning the disc and it’s unreadable.
- Is the firmware on your drive up-to-date?
- Did you use cheapo media? – Read This
- Did you verify your burn? – If not, start doing so!
- Did you use the optimal write speed for your drive/firmware/media combo? – This one is trial and error combined with a bit of ‘Disc Quality’ or ‘PIPO’ scanning for those people wanting the absolute best quality burns.
- The drive in the console is dirty, clean it with a cleaning disc.
- The drive in the console is broken, buy yourself a new console.
